Euronet signed an agreement to acquire U.K.-based e-pay Ltd. e-pay is the largest electronic payments processor of prepaid mobile airtime top-up services in the U.K. and Australia, with approximately 35 percent and 75 percent market share in their regions, respectively. e-pay, which was founded in 1999, quickly became a leader in the cash-based recharge, or “top-up,” market for processing electronic purchases of prepaid mobile airtime and long-distance calling cards. The company currently supports top-up purchases for mobile service providers at more than 50,000 point-of-sale (POS) terminals in approximately 18,000 retail locations.

Euronet sold all of its shares of Euronet Services (UK) Ltd., its U.K. subsidiary, to Bridgepoint Capital Limited in a $29.6 million management buy-out. Bridgepoint is a leading pan-European private equity firm based in London. In conjunction with the sale of the ATM network, Euronet signed a 5-year ATM outsourcing agreement with Bank Machine Limited, which is the new name under which Euronet's former U.K. subsidiary will do business. Euronet will drive and process the transactions from its previously owned 745 U.K. ATMs and any new ATMs added to the network, subject to certain contractual terms.

Euronet entered the India market with a multiyear ATM outsourcing agreement to operate 450 ATMs for one of India's largest and fastest growing private banks. The bank plans to nearly double its current ATM network and add new services to their existing ATMs. Euronet will deploy 200 new bank-owned ATMs in India's largest cities, and Euronet also will take over the driving of the bank's existing 250 ATMs. When fully implemented, this outsourcing project is anticipated to represent 4 to 5 percent of India's ATM market.

Euronet launches PaySpot recharge services with Concord EFS support
Euronet launched its U.S.-based prepaid recharge services program, called PaySpot, which enables consumers to purchase airtime from ATM and POS devices throughout the United States. Concord actively promotes the PaySpot service through Core Data Resources, Inc., its retail ATM processing subsidiary. PaySpot services are supported by four ATM manufacturers with a combined installed base of over 75,000 ATMs in the U.S., many of those processed by Core Data.
