Monitor Suspect Fraudulent Transactions
Euronet's Issuer Fraud Monitoring reporting offers suspect analysis that recognizes potentially fraudulent activity based on transactions that were performed. To achieve this precise level of fraud protection system rules are applied with regard to each unique market and region, greatly enhancing the system's effectiveness because you are able to detect fraud schemes that are unique to the area. Fraud thresholds are defined at a system level and are used to identify what is considered to be possible fraudulent activity. All transaction activity, including approved and denied authorizations and completed transactions, are monitored on a daily basis against the defined thresholds to detect potentially fraudulent transactions.

Euronet's Acquirer Fraud Monitoring solution offers monitoring that recognizes potential fraudulent merchant activity based on transactions that were performed within the Integrated Transaction Management system. Merchant activity is assessed and updated daily. Weekly or daily comparisons can be done and exception reporting produced to identify possible fraudulent activity. Additionally extended reporting is available that will do comparisons of merchant activity over a 90 day period. Merchants can be selected for special reporting in addition to the regular monitoring reports.

Other benefits:

  • Stops excessive losses related to identity theft due to lost or stolen credit cards

  • Provides short-term return on investment

  • Allows the bank to become proactive to fraud instead of reactive

  • Works in an IBM mainframe system environment

Upgrade Your APPC Connections to TCP/IP
APPC (Advanced Program to Program Communications) will not be supported in IBM's V5R1 release of OS/400. Therefore, financial institutions using Telephone Banking and Internet Banking using APPC communications between the presentation server and the AS/400 will need to convert to TCP/IP communications prior to upgrading to OS/400 V5R1. Euronet can provide this conversion service for your ITM components in conjunction with any changes performed by IBM to implement TCP/IP.

Testing the upgrade to a new release of OS/400 is vital. Euronet does not recommend upgrading production systems straight to V5R1 without first installing in a test environment and performing the appropriate level of testing. Please contact your Account Manager, Customer Support Representative or Sales Representative for more detail.

Euronet Offers 3DES Consulting
April 2003 -- MasterCard's first implementation deadline for Triple DES (3DES) is fast approaching. Triple DES encryption technologies can be a complex undertaking, even in a straightforward transaction processing system. All of the components must be inventoried, evaluated and upgraded or replaced. Euronet's Professional Services Organization (PSO) assist financial institution's 3DES challenges through general 3DES awareness, joint requirements planning, business and tactical consulting and project office.

Depending on the complexity of the customer's system under evaluation, review of technical and non-technical aspects may be conducted either on-site or remotely. In a system of perceived lesser complexity, a combination of teleconferencing and review of backup libraries can be the review process. This review includes a written brief of impacts and recommendations, both technical and non-technical. In a more complex system, an on-site evaluation and review session may be more advisable. A document describing gaps, impacts, both technical and non-technical is included in the on-site review, as well as an example project plan.

Haven't Eliminated the INET Format?
The elimination deadline of MasterCard's old INET format to the modern Global Clearing Management System (GCMS) IPM (Integrated Product Messages) format is set for April 2003. Euronet offer the IPM Clearing System software to support e-commerce as an issuer.

Euronet's system gives an improved method of storage of historical data for SAFE and exception processing. If you haven't upgraded, please contact your sales representative to install the latest release.

Product Showcase: Euronet POS Recharge
Cash or credit -- we make it easy for customers to recharge prepaid airtime and make a retail purchase at the same time. Euronet POS Recharge is an automatic recharge product that captures cash and bank card (debit and credit) transactions for banks, merchants, mobile operators and their distributors.

Euronet POS Recharge maximizes customer convenience at traditional recharge access points and enhances the recharge process at reseller outlets without disturbing the commercial relationships with distributors. The solution also allows mobile operators to sell prepaid airtime electronically without the need to manufacture plastic cards.

Euronet is able to either deploy or modify existing electronic terminals at each of a mobile operator's established reseller base so that when a mobile subscriber enters a shop, they are able to simply go to the merchant counter, enter their mobile phone number into the terminal, choose an amount, and give the merchant payment (cash or a bankcard). No sign up process is required and all prepaid customers can benefit, without the need of a bank card.
